PowereX is the winner of Slovak final of PowerUp! competition

Seven startups from energy, cleantech, mobility and smart city areas competed in the Slovak final of the European competition PowerUp! The competition took place at HubHub Bratislava on the 31st of May. A jury made up of Viktor Mikulášek from Launcher, Jaroslav Ľupták from Neulogy Ventures, Andrea Martinkovičová from ZSE and Maciej Majchrowicz from EIT InnoEnergy selected PowereX, a platform for sharing the distribution capacity, as the winning idea. The software solution enables cooperation between electricity distributors and their customers and can save billions of euros by capacity optimization.

PowereX advanced to the European final in Prague where they competed for a 30 000 euro prize and a spot in the InnoEnergy Highway® accelerator what could lead to an investment of up to 150 000 euro. Stanislav Kovalik and Peter Simko from PowereX have previously won UPLIFT 2018 Demo day, a competition which concludes Uplift!, an acceleration program run by Impact Hub Bratislava and CIVITTA Slovakia.
To win the national round, PowereX team had to first undergo a boot camp with leading business mentors and pitching coaches. The second place was awarded to Parkio which provides an intelligent system for organizing corporate parking spaces which help companies to keep track of their parking costs. The third place went to Spear and their patented turbine which can utilize both wind and water to generate electricity. Finally, a special crowdfunding prize was awarded to CCCG which develops an intelligent tap, helping households to save water and keep track of its consumption.

CIVITTA Slovakia became InnoEnergy’s hub in April 2017. InnoEnergy one of Europe’s largest investment funds and accelerators in the energy sector. Its purpose is to foster innovation and build innovative communities in areas such as energetic effectivity smart buildings and cities, energy storage or renewable resources. Besides organizing the Slovak round of PowerUp! competition, Neulogy also actively scouts for potential investments in InnoEnergy’s name.
